Photo ID Requirements

Photo ID Requirements

AWS adopts the same guidelines for photos as does the U.S. Department of State for passport photos. The following guidelines are borrowed and modified from the U.S. Department of State website.

Your photo is a vital part of your application. To learn more, review the information below on how to provide a suitable photo to avoid processing delays. The acceptance of your photo is always at the discretion of the AWS.

We recommend you use a professional passport photo service to ensure your photo meets all the requirements.

If you are applying for a Certification, you must provide one (1) passport-style photograph. Your photo must be:

  • In color
  • Printed on photo quality paper
  • 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm) in size
  • Sized such that the head is between 1 inch and 1 3/8 inches (between 25 and 35 mm) from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head
  • Taken within the last 6 months to reflect your current appearance
  • Taken in front of a plain white or off-white background
  • Taken in full-face view directly facing the camera
  • With a neutral facial expression and both eyes open
  • Taken in clothing that you normally wear on a daily basis:
    • Uniforms should not be worn in your photo, except religious clothing that is worn daily
    • Do not wear a hat or head covering that obscures the hair or hairline, unless worn daily for a religious purpose. Your full face must be visible, and the head covering must not cast any shadows on your face
    • Headphones, wireless hands-free devices or similar items are not acceptable in your photo
    • If you normally wear prescription glasses, a hearing device or similar articles, they may be worn for your photo
    • Dark glasses or non-prescription glasses with tinted lenses are not acceptable unless you need them for medical reasons (a medical certificate may be required)
    • Glare on glasses is not acceptable in your photo. Glare can be avoided with a slight downward tilt of the glasses or by removing the glasses or by turning off the camera flash

Photos copied or digitally scanned from driver s licenses or other official documents are not acceptable. In addition, snapshots, magazine photos, low quality vending machine or mobile phone photos, and full-length photographs are not acceptable.

Want to take the photo yourself?

While we recommend you use a professional passport photo service to ensure your photo meets all the requirements, you may take the photo yourself. Hand-held self-portraits are not acceptable. Photos must not be digitally enhanced or altered to change your appearance in any way. Please use reliable references for guidance on taking your own photo. There are several online software tools for this purpose. It is your responsibility to ensure the tool you use produces a photo that meets AWS specifications.

Renewals/Recertification – Change of Appearance

If you cannot be identified from your current photo on file with AWS, you should submit a new photo with your renewal or recertification application.

Examination results will NOT be released until we receive the 2 x 2 inch color passport – style photograph. To avoid delays in receiving your examination results, please mail your photo to the address listed below:

American Welding Society
Certification Department Photo Center
8669 NW 36 Street Suite 130

We recommend using priority mail with tracking options.

“Certified Project Managers are in demand across various industry segments including IT/ITES, Construction, Infrastructure, Engineering, Finance, Manufacturing, Healthcare and Service Industries.”

Benefits of CAPM

Among other things CAPM will equip you with:

  • Skills to initiate a project
  • Project preparation and planning proficiency
  • Executing, monitoring, controlling and completing a project
  • Estimating activity costs
  • Planning for quality at every stage
  • Performing quality assurance
  • Hiring, leading and managing a project team
  • Foreseeing and planning for the unexpected

Whether you’re new to project management, changing careers, or already serving as a subject matter expert on project teams, the CAPM can get your career on the right path or take it to the next level.

If you are a project manager with less than 2 years experience, looking to demonstrate your commitment to project management, improve your ability to manage larger projects and earn additional responsibility, & stand out to potential employers, the CAPM certification is right for you.

The CAPM certification offers recognition to practitioners who are starting their career in project management as well as project team members who wish to demonstrate their project management knowledge. This certification denotes that the individual possesses knowledge in the principles and terminology of A Guide to Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide) , the standard of project management’s generally recognized good practices.

The knowledge a practitioner gains from earning the CAPM certification can be applied to on-the-job experiences which help develop growing levels of competence in the practice of project management.

The most trusted name in project management training

Below are just a few of the benefits that we believe make our PMP certification training course offering the best in the industry:

  1. Firm Course Dates: All of our PMP certification training courses are 100% guaranteed to run on the dates listed. Other companies often register you for a course date, and then postpone the course until they can fill up the class. This means you may not actually take the course for months, which causes scheduling nightmares. Even worse, their terms and conditions allow them to keep most or all of your money, forcing you to take the course when it is most profitable for them.
  2. Full Money-Back Pass Guarantee: We provide a true 100% money-back pass guarantee, with no fine print. Other companies often just allow you to re-take the course. If they aren’t willing to back it up with a full money-back guarantee, you should question the quality of their course offering. Quite simply, we believe our PMP certification training course is the best and we stand behind it 100%.
  3. Free Post-Class Tutoring and Support: Most PMP training providers don’t provide any post-class support, or worse, they say they do and then let you down. We stand by our customers and support them throughout the entire PMP certification process.
  4. Training Materials Available Upon Registration: Our live classroom PMP training is second to none, but we also believe you should never leave class empty-handed. That’s why we provide students with a comprehensive online training portal, which includes over 50 recorded lectures-on-demand, mock exam software, quizzes, and various downloadable study aids. We provide online training access as soon as you register, so that you can get started immediately.
  5. Proven Results: We believe our PMP course prepares students better than any other provider and we have an audited pass rate of 99.9% to back it up.
  6. Outstanding Course Materials: We believe our PMP course materials are the most comprehensive and highest quality PMP certification training materials in the industry.

When choosing a PMP training provider, remember, not all PMP courses are equal. The quality of competing PMP exam prep courses can vary widely and some may not fully prepare you for the exam. When investing in your career you should never sacrifice quality for a lower price. If you weigh the key decision factors, we believe Project Management Academy provides the best value.

100% Money-Back Pass Guarantee

We stand behind our product. Unlike other companies, we provide a true 100% money-back pass guarantee with no fine print. Our promise is simple:

  • You must attend the entire project management certification course and complete three full-length practice exams from our online training portal.
  • If you do not pass the PMP exam in three attempts, we will refund your entire course tuition, provided that all attempts occurred within 120 calendar days of completing the course.

All we ask in return is that you study hard and take full advantage of the extensive PMP exam prep study aids we provide.

Guaranteed To Run

All PMP exam prep courses are 100% guaranteed to run on the dates listed. Yes, even if there’s only one student. While other providers often postpone courses due to low enrollment, we promise to never do that.

Credit for Prior Learning

Prior Learning Assessment

Earn college credits for what you already know!
Prior Learning Assessment is a method of assessing and recognizing learning that is equal to college level learning, but has been gained outside a traditional classroom (through work experience, volunteering, outside study, etc.). If you can prove that the knowledge you have gained meets the outcomes of a Seneca course, then credit will be awarded.

How does the PLA process work?
Prior Learning is demonstrated through a “challenge” process. The process measures learning through a variety of methods which may include tests, portfolio assessment, interviews, demonstrations, essays, and work samples. The method used will be determined in consultation with a Program Coordinator.
For more information and to determine if you are eligible for PLA, please call the Program Coordinator.

The process may take from 6 to 8 weeks.

Note: Not all courses can be challenged. For more information go to PLA website or contact your Program Coordinator.

Transfer Credit (Advanced Standing)

Many students who enter Seneca College will have earned academic credits in post-secondary educational institutions which they may be able to apply toward completion of a Seneca College program.

Requests for Transfer Credit must be for a specific course and must be accompanied by an official transcript and course outline. A minimum grade of “C” (60 percent) is generally required for a course to be considered for Transfer Credit.

Download a Transfer Credit Request form. An official copy of your transcript and applicable detailed course outlines should be attached and submitted. Please note it may take 4 to 6 weeks for a Transfer Credit decision.

FNP Certification and Certificate Programs

Essential Information

An FNP provides primary healthcare to individuals and families, often in a hospital or outpatient primary care clinic. In most states, an FNP candidate must be a registered nurse with an advanced nursing degree, a family practitioner certificate, and CPR certification before becoming an FNP. Certification requirements can vary greatly by state, as can the duties that FNPs are allowed to perform.

These post-master’s certificate programs combine the skills that students learned in nursing school with a focus on the individualized needs of specific patient groups divided into several categories, including age, health problem and care type. These programs also delve deeper into other medical areas, such as diagnostic skills, disease research and prescription medications.

Find schools that offer these popular programs

  • Clinical Nursing
  • Critical Care Nursing
  • Direct-Entry Midwifery – LM, CPM
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse Training
  • Mental Health Nursing
  • Neonatal Nursing
  • Nurse Anesthetist
  • Nurse Assistant or Patient Care Assistant
  • Nurse Midwife
  • Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner
  • Nursing Administration
  • Nursing for Adults and Seniors
  • Nursing Science
  • Occupational Health Nursing
  • Operating Room and Surgical Nursing
  • Pediatric Nursing
  • Public Health Nurse or Community Nurse
  • Registered Nurse

Certificate Programs for Family Nurse Practitioners

Students learn how to provide a wide variety of medical services, which may include critical care, chronic disease care, diagnostic research, home healthcare and medication prescription. They may also learn to provide many of the same services as primary care physicians. These include diagnosing medical conditions, prescribing treatment plans and managing community outreach programs. Coursework varies according to individual state requirements; however, most programs focus heavily on primary care with individualized attention to specific healthcare groups, such as children, adolescents and senior citizens. Classes may cover:

  • Advanced primary care
  • Clinical care assessment
  • Pediatric care
  • Reproductive health
  • Advanced pharmacology
  • Diagnostic reasoning

Employment Outlook and Salary Information

Job prospects for all nurse practitioners (NPs), including FNPs, are expected to increase by 31% from 2014 to 2024, which is much faster than average, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The overall aging of the population and the lack of primary healthcare resources in rural areas combine to create a growing need for NPs.

Salaries for NPs and FNPs can vary depending on the region and type of employer; urban areas and hospitals typically pay more, while clinics in rural areas tend to pay less. According to the BLS, the mean salary in 2015 for all NPs was $101,260.

Certification and Continuing Education Information

After completing a nurse practitioner program, students are eligible to take the national certification test for nurse practitioners, which is available through a few accredited national agencies, including the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Some states, such as New York, require NPs to apply for a certificate to practice in their specialty area as well.

Family nurse practitioners may also continue their education to specialize in multiple types of family care, such as pediatrics, women’s health and geriatrics. Such specialization requires additional college-level coursework in the specific field and students may face additional health board testing depending on state requirements.

Those who meet all the requirements, including an advanced nursing degree, may enroll in an FNP post-master’s certification program. They are then eligible to become nationally certified and may even consider continuing their education to focus on more specialized areas of medicine.

Health Information Management Degrees

Driven by aggressive legislation and financial incentives for health care practices to implement standardized electronic medical records (EMR), the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 15% growth in health IT employment through 2024, placing health information management (HIM) among the nation’s fastest growing occupations.

The most important thing to look for in a health information management degree is CAHIIM-accreditation. CAHIIM – the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education – guarantees that an accredited program delivers the skills, education and job marketability necessary to succeed in health IT. Furthermore, graduates of CAHIIM-accredited degree programs qualify for the red-hot health information management credentials from AHIMA, such as the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate.

CAHIIM accredited health information management programs:

CAHIIM Accredited Associate Degrees

Entry-level positions in health information management typically require an associate degree in a health information technology discipline. Completing a CAHIIM-accredited associates program is also the minimum eligibility requirement for AHIMA’s sought-after Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification.
