Indiana Auto Insurance Coverage

Learn about your coverage options so you can choose the Indiana auto insurance that’s right for your needs, goals and budget.

Indiana car insurance coverage your policy must have

Liability coverage

As a resident of Indiana, there are two types of liability coverage your insurance policy must include: property damage and bodily injury.

  • Bodily injury safeguards your assets if you are found legally responsible for a covered accident. It covers certain damage you may cause to the property or vehicle of another party.
  • Property damage safeguards your assets if you’re found legally responsible for a covered accident, including certain expenses associated with bodily harm sustained by the other parties.

The minimum amount of Indiana auto insurance coverage is $25,000/$50,000/$10,000. In the event of a covered accident, your limits for bodily injury are $25,000 per person, with a total maximum of $50,000 per incident. It also covers up to $10,000 for damage to another person’s property.

Liability coverage also provides for your legal defense if a lawsuit is brought against you as a result of a covered accident.

Indiana auto insurance coverage that’s smart to have

It’s often a good idea to add the following coverages to your policy so you can enjoy the security of being protected on the road:

This type of Indiana auto insurance coverage is used to repair your vehicle when physical damage occurs from non-collision related incidents (subject to deductible). Such incidents include theft, fire, vandalism, glass breakage, and contact with animals.

Collision coverage is used to repair your vehicle when physical damage occurs from collision with another vehicle or object (subject to deductible).

Uninsured/underinsured motorist

Protects you in the event of an accident where the other party is at-fault and either doesn’t carry insurance or is underinsured.

  • Property damage helps pay for property damage to your vehicle that you are legally entitled to from another driver who is not insured. (This option is part of uninsured motorist coverage only.)
  • Bodily injury helps pay for damages due to bodily injury that you and others are legally entitled to from another driver who is not insured or is underinsured.

Medical payments

Helps pay expenses for medical and essential services for you and others in the event of an accident, regardless of who is at fault.

Tailor your policy with these options

Accident Forgiveness

With this optional coverage, Nationwide will not raise your auto insurance rates following your first at-fault automobile accident. Learn more about Accident Forgiveness .

Roadside Assistance

Nationwide Roadside Assistance coverage is available in two different levels, Basic and Plus, so you can choose the one that works best with your budget. Get covered for fuel delivery, lockout service, jump-starts and more.

Rental reimbursement

If you can’t drive your car due to a covered loss, this coverage helps pay for a rental car or other transportation expenses so you can get back on the road.

# Full Coverage vs Liability – Which Is Better

Full Coverage vs Liability – Which Is Better

At the opposite ends of the car insurance spectrum are full coverage and liability only. In reality, there are many steps in between these polar opposites and there are even multiple levels of full coverage and liability only. However, car insurance can best be understood by first fully comprehending the differences between these two extremes.

Liability Only Car Insurance

Car insurance is regulated at the state level, and therefore, each state has its own guidelines concerning the minimum car insurance coverages that are required. One thing that is for certain, though, is that all states have laws regarding the minimum amount of liability coverage you must have in order to legally drive your vehicle. But what is liability coverage? It is insurance that covers damage you cause to other people (outside of your car) and their property.

State minimums are expressed in three parts. For example, Colorado’s legal minimums are 25/50/15. The first number refers to the maximum amount your insurance company will pay for injuries sustained by a single individual, per accident; the second number refers to the maximum amount your insurer will pay for all injuries in a single accident; and the third number is the maximum amount your insurer will pay for property damage, per accident. So for Colorado. this translates into $25,000 of bodily injury coverage per victim; $50,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident; and $15,000 of property damage coverage per accident.

Keep in mind that these are the state minimums – it may be wise to carry coverage in excess of them. Keeping with the Colorado example, if you were in an accident that caused $100,000 in bodily injury damages to another motorist, your insurance would only cover the first $25,000. For the other $75,000 the injured motorist could come after you! This may or may not apply in so-called “no-fault” states, of which there are 12.

Full Coverage Car Insurance

What is known as “full coverage” is actually two forms of coverage on top of liability – comprehensive coverage and collision coverage. A motorist can elect to have comprehensive coverage without collision, but not collision without comprehensive. A car insurance policy with liability and comprehensive coverage would be something in between the legal minimum and “full coverage.”

Comprehensive coverage is sometimes referred to as “other-than-collision” coverage, or OTC. Obviously, it covers damages to your vehicle that arise from something other than a collision. Examples include theft, fire, weather damage, etc. but the insurance companies confuse the issue by including accidents with animals as part of comprehensive coverage, rather than collision. The logic behind this is that comprehensive is designed to cover things that are less likely to be your fault.

Collision coverage is an optional add-on to comprehensive – although it isn’t optional if you still owe money on your car! Finance companies require borrowers to carry full car insurance coverage on their vehicles.

Getting Something for Your Money – That’s the Name of the Game

Too many people look at insurance as an annoying expense. In reality, it is an investment – a financial product – and it should be viewed as such. Whether you want liability only, full coverage, or something in between, you need to make sure you are not paying more than you have to for the coverage you need. The best way to ensure you’re getting a good value is by comparison shopping online. In many cases, customers are able to save money while simultaneously increasing their coverage.

Hypertrophic pulmonary osteoarthropathy (HPOA) is not an uncommon paraneoplastic syndrome that is frequently associated with lung cancer. A 54-year-old male patient with lung adenocarcinoma underwent bone scintigraphy and fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scanning for initial staging. Bone scintigraphy revealed increased periosteal activity in lower extremities. FDG PET/CT revealed hypermetabolic right lung mass, mediastinal lymph nodes, and mildly increased periosteal FDG uptake in both femurs and tibias. The findings in lower extremities on bone scan and FDG PET/CT were interpreted as HPOA.

Hypertrophic pulmonary osteoarthropathy (HPOA) is often associated with lung carcinoma, but other intrathoracic tumors or nonmalignant diseases including hepatopulmonary syndrome of advanced liver or cirrhosis, cyanotic heart diseases may also associated with this clinical condition.[1 ,2 ] It is distinguished by painful, swollen joints, digital clubbing, and periostitis.[3 ,4 ] Radiologically, periostitis presents as new bone formation and appearance of a smooth layer to the bones. Bone scintigraphy is a highly sensitive method for the diagnosis of HPOA and the typical scintigraphic presentation is a diffuse, symmetrically increased uptake in the diaphysis and metaphysis of tubular bones, with a distinctive double stripe or parallel track sign.[5 ] In addition, diffuse moderately increased fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake in the periostea of long bones had been reported.[6 ,7 ]

Here, we present a lung cancer patient who demonstrated findings consistent with HPOA on bone scintigraphy and FDG positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) imaging.

A 54-year-old male patient complaining of cough, generalized bone pain and weakness was referred to our hospital. He was smoking for 30 years/1 packet/day. On physical examination, he had Grade I clubbing of fingers and toes. Complete blood count and biochemistry tests were normal except mild anemia. CT of the thorax demonstrated 5 cm 6 cm mass lesion with speculated margins in the upper lobe of the right lung. In addition, there was mediastinal lymphadenopathy. Bronchoscopy and biopsy were done, and histopathology revealed adenocarcinoma of the lung. The patient was referred nuclear medicine department for bone scintigraphy and 18F-FDG PET/CT. Bone scintigraphy was performed 3 h after intravenous injection of 20 mCi (740 MBq) methylene diphosphonate (MDP). It demonstrated no osseous metastases but revealed increased periosteal activity in the long bones of the legs corresponding to hypertrophic osteoarthropathy [ Figure 1 ]. PET/CT images were acquired 60 min after intravenous injection of 7 mCi (259 MBq) FDG an integrated PET/CT camera. Maximum intensity projection and transaxial images showed increased FDG accumulation in the primary tumor (SUVmax: 17), mediastinal lymph nodes (SUVmax: 3.3) and mild, symmetrical periosteal FDG uptake along both femuri and tibias (SUVmax: 2.4 3.0) [ Figure 2 ].

What does High Availability Hosting mean do I need it?

High Availability (HA) is a software service that minimizes any service outage. It provides uniform, cost-effective failover protection against hardware and/or Operating System (OS) failures. HA is active by default for all Public Cloud servers and is available as an add-on service with all Private and Hybrid Clouds. It monitors cloud servers to detect a failure on the underlying physical hosts or an Operating System failure inside the cloud server. If an outage is detected, the High Availability functionality restarts the cloud server on another physical host, part of the Host Color’s compute cluster. The operations resume automatically and services that run on the cloud instance return online. There is no need to reboot the server manually. If you want to make sure that websites, applications and services delivered from your account would return online very fast in case of any outage, you should consider using any of Host Color’s Cloud servers.

Does Automated Fault Tolerance really offer 100% uptime?

Automated Fault Tolerance (AFT) is a Cloud service which eliminates the risk of a service outage. Host Color offers Automated Fault Tolerance as a paid add-on service to all Public, Private and Hybrid Clouds. Unlike the High Availability, which reduces any service outage, the AFT function eliminates it and ensures continuous availability for any websites, applications and other all workloads in an event of cloud server failure. AFT creates a live shadow Cloud server (Failover Cloud Virtual Machine), which is synchronized and always up-to-date with the primary one. In an event of a hardware failure or an OS outage, the AFT automatically starts the failover Cloud VM, ensuring zero downtime.

Do I need a Cloud service?

Most Marketeers and Sales Agents say “Yes, you do!”. We work differently! We will talk to you about your project and will take our time to understand what you want to achieve? HC team will outline any possible IT infrastructure service scenarios for your business and then will compare the Cloud computing to the traditional IT hosting models. Cloud services, especially the Hybrid Clouds are very efficient and cost-effective for businesses, as they help them create flexible IT frameworks and to organize operations more efficiently. On the other hand, traditional computing is simple to understand and in many ways more affordable. Why don’t you Ask your questions?

What is the difference between Cloud traditional IT Hosting?

It is simple. Just ignore the buzzword “Cloud” and focus on its technical specification. Term “Cloud” refers to computer clusters, a networking model of computer systems. In such infrastructures the servers that deal with processing operations (Processing Nodes) are physically separate from the data storage appliances (Storage Area Networks). Cloud computing infrastructures are hardware-redundant. In case of a failure of any physical component, a Cloud system continues to operate on an infrastructure level. Therefore Cloud computing infrastructures ensure operational continuity and guarantee a high service uptime. In order for any IT hosting service or a computer instance to be called “Cloud”, it must be delivered from a clustered server infrastructure. On a user level, the computer instance (Cloud server) itself would feature some form of High Availability or failover scenario, which would increase its operational continuity. If it doesn’t offer anything like that, it should not be called “Cloud”.
