If you’ve never been before, choosing one can be tricky. There are several kinds of eye care experts who specialize in different things.

How Do I Find One?

If you’ve never seen an eye doctor, you need to make sure you find a good one.

Talk to your doctor or pediatrician. She’ll have the names of eye specialists in your area. She may even have a sense of who would be a good fit for you or your children.

Ask family, friends, and co-workers. Think of everyone you know who wears glasses — they all have eye doctors. Ask them.

Check with professional organizations. The American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Optometric Association have tools on their websites to help find eye doctors in your area.

After the Appointment

When you’re on the way home, ask yourself:

Did you have to wait a long time? If you did, you may want to ask the office staff about the average length of time before the doctor will see you.

Did the exam feel complete? If you felt rushed by the doctor, that’s probably not a good sign.

Did he listen to your questions and answer them clearly? Good communication is key for your eye health .

Did you feel comfortable? This really is important. If you don’t like the doctor, you’ll be less likely to get checkups, and that isn’t good for your health.

If your first attempt didn’t meet your expectations, don’t be afraid to try someone else. Your eye health is key to a long, healthy life. It’s worth it to take the time to find a doctor you trust.

The Texas Board of Nursing (formerly the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas) regulates nursing practice in the State of Texas pursuant to the Nursing Practice Act, the Texas Administrative Code and other guiding statutes such as the Health Safety Code and Chapter 53 of the Texas Occupations Code. The Board is charged with regulating RN (Registered Nurse), LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse), and Advanced Practice Nursing designations such as clinical nurse specialist. They also regulate and grant prescriptive authority to nurses who are credentialed to apply for DEA / DPS prescriptive authority.

The Board is charged with protecting the public and accordingly it grants, denies, and disciplines nursing licenses / nurse registrations based on what they perceive to be actual or potential violations of the Nursing Practice Act. The Board is comprised of thirteen (13) members, nine (9) of whom are nurses and four (4) who are public members. The Board appoints an Executive Director who is responsible for the day to day affairs of running the agency which are voluminous and include such areas as processing license applications, handling open records requests, promulgating internal rules and procedures, developing policies and procedures on the handling of a variety of matters and running a staff that consists of over one-hundred employees.

Contrary to popular belief, a nurse undergoing an investigation of his or her license due to alleged practice errors or behavioral transgressions encounters Board Staff and not the Board. The investigators, enforcement team, and Texas Board of Nursing attorneys / lawyers who advise the Board and generate all of the offers of Agreed Orders and policies regarding the same are Board Staff. In fact, a nurse undergoing a disciplinary action / investigation will rarely encounter an actual Board member. Even the Informal Conferences are run and determined by Staff of the Board. Board members will only be encountered if a nursing license applicant is invited to attend a meeting of the Eligibility Disciplinary Committee or if the nurse has gone through the contested case hearing process at the State Office of Administrative Hearings and the matter goes to the Full Board for consideration. Even in these cases the Nurse is rarely afforded an opportunity to appear even though it is well within his / her rights.

Within the Board’s Staff the disciplinary guidelines and determinations with respect to nursing license discipline are set forward and policed by the Executive Director, the Enforcement Division, the division on Nursing Practice, and the attorneys and lawyers who are employed as Board Staff, but represent the Texas Board of Nursing. Matters of legal representation that go beyond mere discipline and that involve appeals, rule making, declaratory judgments, and administrative writs and law suits in District Court are sent to the Office of the Attorney General. These cases are not tried by the attorneys who are employed by the Texas Board of Nursing as staff lawyers, as they generally involve more complex legal issues that go beyond the expertise and competency level of the Texas Board of Nursing’s Office of the General Counsel. Moreover, due to internal work demands and inherent conflicts of interest these cases are outsourced to the Attorney General.

NCBTMB and FSMTB have reached an Agreement. NCBTMB will no longer accept applications to utilize their Licensing exams effective November 1, 2014 for completion February 1, 2015. The MBLEx will be the sole licensing exam for the Massage Profession, this will facilitate portability and standardization for Massage Therapists.

Application for Licensure- Application Instructions list of what is needed to obtain a license to practice massage in the State of Idaho. The Examination Application. Endorsement Application and Grandfather Application (until July 1st 2014) are now being accepted.

This act shall be in full force and effect on and after July 1, 2012. Starting July 1st 2013- You must have a valid license to Practice Massage in Idaho.

Idaho Massage Schools – A list of massage schools in Idaho

You must complete an approved massage study course of 500 hours and then take and pass the MBLEx. A list of initial licensure and Grandfather clauses for approval until July 1st 2014. The requirements indicate a plan for those already practicing Massage Therapy in Idaho. You must comply with the application process in order to be grandfathered in before July 1, 2014. If you do not obtain a License, you may be subjected to fees of non-compliance and a misdemeanor.

California-Licensed CPAs

A California-licensed CPA is an individual who has met the education, examination, and experience requirements of California State law and has been issued a license to practice public accountancy by the California Board of Accountancy (CBA).

California-Licensed Accounting Firms

A California-licensed accounting firm consists of accounting firms meeting minimum registration requirements to provide public accounting services in California. These firms consist of corporations and partnerships, as well as sole practitioners operating under a name different from the name on their CPA license.

Out-of-State Licensed CPAs

An individual, whose principal place of business is not in California and who has a valid and current license to practice public accountancy from another state, may, with limited exceptions, engage in the practice of public accountancy in California without obtaining a California license. In order for the individual to qualify for practice privilege, the out-of-state licensed CPA must satisfy one of the following:

  • Have continually practiced public accountancy as a CPA in another state for at least four of the last 10 years
  • Come from a state listed in CBA Regulations section 5.5 that the CBA has deemed to have education, examination, and experience requirements substantially equivalent to its own licensure requirements found in Business and Professions Code section 5093.
  • Individually possess education, examination, and experience qualifications for licensure that the CBA has determined to be substantially equivalent to its own licensure requirements found in Business and Professions Code section 5093.

In certain circumstances, an out-of-state CPA must either seek the approval of the CBA prior to engaging in the practice of public accountancy, or must cease practicing in California until such time as the CBA provides permission to continue practice. In addition, there are certain disqualifying conditions that can lead to the revocation of practice privilege.

If after performing a search of CBA records on an out-of-state license CPA you receive information that indicates no results are available, this does not mean that the individual is not authorized to practice public accountancy in California.

If you wish, you can file a complaint against an out-of-state CPA.

Out-of-State Registered Accounting Firms

To perform certain services for a California-headquarted entity, an out-of-state accounting firm must first register with the CBA. The specific services that first require registration with the CBA include the following:

  • An audit or review of a financial statement
  • A compilation of a financial statement when it is expected, or reasonably might be expected, that a third party will use the financial statement and the compilation report does not disclose a lack of independence.
  • An examination of prospective financial information.

Configuration Management Database (CMDB) is a centralized repository that stores information on all the significant entities in your IT environment. The entities, termed as Configuration Items (CIs) can be hardware, the installed software applications, documents, business services and also the people that are part of your IT system. Unlike the asset database that comprises of a bunch of assets, the CMDB is designed to support a vast IT structure where the interrelations between the CIs are maintained and supported successfully.

Configuration Item Types (CI Types)

The CIs within the CMDB are categorized into specific Configuration Item Types (CI Types). Each CI Type is represented with Attributes and Relationships that is unique for the CIs classified under it. Attributes are data elements that describe the characteristics of CIs under the CI Type. For instance, the attributes for CI Type Server can be Model, Service Tag, Processor Name and so on. Relationships, on the other hand, denote the link between two CIs that identifies the dependency or connection between them.

A CI Type can form a hierarchical structure by further drilling down to Sub Types. Each Sub Type inherits the Attributes and Relationships from the parent CI Type.

Relationship Map

The Relationship Map is uniquely designed to provide the ability to understand the dependencies between the CIs. The relationships between the CIs are discovered automatically while populating the CIs into the CMDB through Active Directory or LDAP import, performing Windows Domain Scan or Network Scan. The Relationship Map helps to analyze the impact caused by the CI on a business service, and identify the root cause of the impact, thus establishing appropriate measures to gradually eliminate the perpetual issues faced by your organization.

Graduates of Excelsior s ACEN (formerly NLNAC) accredited nursing education programs are eligible to apply to the Florida Board of Nursing for licensure by examination pursuant to section 464.008, Florida Statutes. Excelsior nursing graduates who meet the requirements for licensure in Florida are granted full licenses without limitations or conditions.

An approved nursing education program is a program for the prelicensure education of professional or practical nurses that is conducted in Florida at an educational institution that is approved and regulated under s.464.019, Florida Statutes. An accredited nursing education program, as defined by s. 464.003, Florida Statutes, is a program for the prelicensure education of professional or practical nurses that is conducted in the United States at an educational institution, whether in Florida, another state, or the District of Columbia, and that is accredited by a specialized nursing accrediting agency that is nationally recognized by the United States Secretary of Education to accredit nursing education programs Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)).

Graduates of both approved and accredited nursing education programs are eligible to apply to the Florida Board of Nursing for licensure by examination.

Accredited programs included on the Florida Board of Nursing s comparative website are programs that have a physical presence in the state of Florida. Program status of out-of-state nursing education programs may be verified through the specific Board of Nursing that issued approval or through a national nursing accrediting body (ACEN or CCNE).

The NCLEX or National Council Licensure Examination is the national licensing examination for practical and registered nurses. Quarterly and cumulative passage rates for first time test takers are calculated and published by a contracted testing service and are made available to the Florida Board of Nursing and are posted on the website.

The NCLEX National Average passage rate is the average number of all member first time test takers for a reporting period, calculated by the National Testing Service using the test takers scores during the reporting period, to determine the average of the conglomerate scores.

Pursuant to s.464.019, F.S. the Florida Board of Nursing monitors these passage rates to ensure the achievement of Florida approved nursing education program graduates. Approved nursing education programs must achieve a graduate passage rate that is not lower than 10 percentage points less than the average passage rate for graduates of comparable degree programs who are United States educated, first-time test takers on the NCLEX during a calendar year. An approved nursing education program shall be placed on Approved/probationary status by the Florida Board of Nursing pursuant to s. 464.019 for failure to meet the required passage rates on the NCLEX for two consecutive calendar years.

Beginning in 2012, approved nursing education programs that performed below the minimum standard for NCLEX passage rates for two consecutive calendar years will be placed on probation pursuant to section 464.019(5), Florida Statutes. NCLEX scores for the previous calendar year are released in January of each year.

A program on probation has one year to meet the minimum standard for NCLEX passage rates. If a program meets the minimum standard, the program will be removed from probation. A program on probation that fails to meet the minimum standard will be terminated by the Board of Nursing.

Pursuant to Florida law, the Board of Nursing is authorized to extend a program’s probationary status for one (1) additional year if the program demonstrates “adequate progress” towards the “graduate passage rate goal”. Nursing education programs that are placed on probation are required to disclose their probationary status in writing to the program’s students and applicants
