How Much does Applicant Tracking Software Cost?

I hate cocktail menus at chain restaurants.

You know the kind of places I’m talking about; the restaurants that always seem to pop up in airports, or near big sports stadiums, or at tourist attractions. They always have $10 hamburgers and some kind of Mexican appetizer to add “color.”

And their cocktail menus are always bereft of prices.

They must do it to trick you into ordering some overpriced, colorful drink that’s more sugar than booze, because they know if you saw that it cost $13.99 you’d balk. So I always have to ask, before ordering something off that menu (because, let’s face it, I’m a sucker for drinks with umbrellas), what it costs, because I hate being surprised when the bill comes around.

If you’re like me, you’ll want to know ahead of time what buying applicant tracking software might cost you. You don’t want any kind of sticker shock when you go to purchase a new ATS for your company. Unfortunately, there’s no simple answer when it comes to ATS pricing. Besides the fact that there are several different pricing models, your specific requirements are also a big factor in how much you’ll pay. However, we can break down the various pricing models so that when you get quotes, you can compare apples to apples.

Here, in order of popularity, are the different cost drivers you can expect to find when shopping for applicant tracking software.

1. Pay-Per-Recruiter

This is the most common pricing model and means you typically pay a flat fee each month based on the number of recruiters and hiring managers you have using the system (sometimes the amount is different for each user type). There may also be a one-time setup or implementation fee with this model.

Price Range: Around $60-$100/user/month.

ATSs with this pricing model:

2. Pay-Per-Employee

Many ATSs price based on the size of your organization, and use number of employees as a measure to gauge that. This means, regardless of the number of users, you will be charged based on the total number of employees in your company.

Price Range: $4-$7/month/employee. However, costs go down significantly (to the $0.20 range) as employee numbers rise into the thousands.

ATSs with this pricing model:

3. Pay-Per-Job Opening/Applicant

Some ATSs will determine their pricing levels based on how many jobs you have open at any particular time, or how many total applicants/resumes you have in the system. Oftentimes this is used in conjunction with some other pricing model like number of recruiters or employees, or a one-time setup fee. This typically doesn’t count archived job openings or inactive/dormant resumes.

Price Range: $5-$19/job opening/month and $0.01-$0.20/resume/month.

ATSs with this pricing model:

Bonus: Other Models

Additional pricing models you may run into include one-time flat license fee (ex. Newton Software ), and free but with premium HR and recruiting services on offer (ex. iKrut ). The first one will often be used in conjunction with one of the other models above (for instance, a one-time fee for setup plus a monthly per-recruiter fee).

Other Cost Drivers?

Have you seen any other applicant tracking pricing? What models did I miss? Any recommendations of colorful cocktails for me to drink? Add them in the comments below!

CNC Technology Training and Education Program Information

Programs in computer numerically controlled (CNC) technology, used to produce machine precision parts in the manufacturing industry, are available at the certificate, diploma or associate’s degree levels. Programs prepare students to become CNC operators, machinists and programmers.

Essential Information

Offering very similar teachings, certificate, diploma and associate’s diploma programs emphasize programming and regulations as well as CNC fundamentals. Associate’s degree programs include general education coursework. These programs also require high school diplomas for admission.

Program specializations include programming, machining and operating.

Diploma and Certificate Programs in CNC Technology

Diploma and certificate programs are most often interchangeable. In these programs, students must first master CNC theory followed by application. CNC technology programs are useful for both students with no knowledge in the field as well as working professionals. Students learn to read blueprints as well as about the actual machining processes. The core of the program is the programming, operation and maintenance of computer numerical control machine tools. A few courses one might expect are:

  • Technical drawing
  • Technical mathematics
  • Engineering graphics
  • Creating and reading blueprints
  • Surface grinder operation

Find schools that offer these popular programs

  • Boilermaking
  • Ironworking
  • Machine Shop Technologies
  • Machinist
  • Sheetworking
  • Tool and Die Technologies
  • Welding Technology

Associate’s Degree Programs in CNC Technology

These programs concentrate on theory and the study of computer-aided design and manufacturing. Students must take a few general education classes in combination with specific computer numerical control training. A few class examples are:

  • Understanding microcomputers
  • CAM/CAD programming
  • Fundamentals of CNC
  • CNC programming
  • Machine tool mathematics

Popular Careers

There are many career options available with professional training in CNC technology. A few common career choices are:

  • CNC programmer
  • CNC service representative
  • CNC machinist
  • Shop floor technician
  • Shop floor manager or supervisor

Employment Outlook

The most common career paths for a graduate of an associate’s degree program in CNC technology are to become a CNC machinist or CNC programmer. In January 2016, Payscale.com found that the salary range for CNC machinists was $28,686-$58,808, including overtime, bonuses and profit sharing. The salary range for CNC programmers was $35,222-$75,492. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) predicts that between 2014-2024, the number of machinist jobs available will increase by 10% due to a need for professionals who can maintain automated systems (www.bls.gov). The BLS expected excellent prospects for individuals pursuing this career path because there are fewer applicants than job openings in some areas.

Students in CNC technology certificate and degree programs learn about CNC theory and then practice the skills needed on the job, including blueprint reading, technical drawing and machine tool mathematics. Graduates of these programs are qualified to work in the industry as CNC machinists, CNC service representatives or shop floor managers and supervisors.

What s A Financial Analyst And How Do You Become One?

Each day, countless bits and bytes of financial information are gathered, monitored and crunched to keep markets and companies in the green.

While computers do a lot of the work for us, at some point human beings have to check out the data and make decisions based on what it says.

They don t make all the big decisions, but Financial Analysts play a key role in that process. It s one of the most common entry level jobs in finance, so we ve compiled everything you need to know about being and becoming a Financial Analyst right here!

What does a Financial Analyst do?

Well, the job title itself is actually pretty self explanatory. In simple terms, you collect and analyze financial information, and then make recommendations to your company, customers or clients based on your analysis. Especially early on, you ll spend a lot of time working on spreadsheets, creating reports and giving presentations.

However, there are many different types of Financial Analysts, such as Securities Analysts, Investment Analysts or Ratings Analysts, and they can work for a number of different types of organizations, including insurance companies, investment banks, mutual funds, pension funds, hedge funds and securities firms, as well as companies that operate in any industry in Canada! Each type of analyst will perform different functions and have different responsibilities on a day-to-day basis.

Buy side vs. sell side

Most commonly, Financial Analysts are broken up into two distinct groups: those who work on the buy side and those who work on the sell side.

Buy side: Analysts on the buy side work for organizations that have money to invest (also known as institutional investors). Institutional investors can be funds, insurance companies, hospitals, colleges and universities basically anyone who has money and needs help developing investment strategies.

Sell side: These are the sexy analyst jobs that many students dream of, with investment banks and securities firms. Analysts on the sell side help these companies price and sell their products.

Outside of this structure, Financial Analysts may also evaluate organizations abilities to repay their debts or be responsible for performing budget and cost analyses.

Educational requirements

Typically, an undergraduate degree in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, management or statistics is required for entry level Financial Analyst jobs .

Some Financial Analysts choose to complete MBAs, and obtain a variety of accounting- and finance-related certifications and designations. such as the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Investment Manager (CIM), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified General Accountant (CGA) designations.

In-demand skills:

There’s nothing ‘soft’ about soft skills

These roles require candidates who are self starters and have excellent interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills. Be sure to highlight these on your resume and point out specific examples in your interview!

Tech it up

General computer proficiency (typing skills, Internet literacy, ability to use Microsoft programs) is essential. Beyond that, the ability to navigate various finance-related software programs will make you a much stronger candidate. Find out what software a company uses before interviewing with them and know a little bit about how it works.

Set yourself apart

Whether you want to work as a Financial Analyst on the buy side or the sell side or somewhere else altogether getting a job is going to be competitive. There are, however, a few ways you can stand out:

  • Get experience working in a financial services environment while you re still a student
  • Keep your grades up there are a lot of business students out there and employers only want the best-of-the-best analytical minds
  • Get involved in or start a finance- or investing-related student group on your campus many employers work with and recruit directly from these groups
