The Governor’s School of New Jersey was established in 1983. It is a tuition-free, summer, residential program for high-achieving high school seniors who have an interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects. Currently, there are two programs: the Governor’s School in the Sciences at Drew University and the Governor’s School of Engineering Technology at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The programs are open to students from diverse economic backgrounds who are New Jersey residents and who have completed their junior year in any public or private high school or are home-schooled.

Mitchell: The job market continues to grow rapidly. In fact, the economy is growing faster in the Houston region than any other area in Texas. With that said, we’d like it to grow even more quickly. Although there has been a recent downturn in the energy industry, other industries such as specialty chemical, health care, maritime and aerospace continue to make strides.

The region ranks #2 nationally for the city with the most Fortune 500 companies, 47 percent of all specialty chemical stock is produced in Houston and the region produces 60 percent of the country’s gasoline. The maritime industry is especially strong and the Port of Houston was named the #1 export port for the United States, outpacing New York.

Higginbotham: Houston is a gateway for trade to Mexico, Canada and expanding markets of Latin America. Economic strategists identify Houston as one of the most robust and dynamic economies in the world. What are some of the top employers in Houston?

Mitchell: Major employers can be found across all industries, ranging from energy to health care. However, some of the biggest include Johnson Space Center, Texas Medical Center, Exxon, Shell, Mobile, Haliburton, Bay Port Industrial Complex, and specialty chemical companies such as Dow Chemical and Lubrizol.

Due to the Broadband Data Communication Act and Fayette County Public Schools board policy, 08.2323, internet safety and digital citizenship must be taught to all FCPS students in grades K-12. This site serves as a resource for Internet Safety Coordinators on the school level. If you need assistance or have any questions, please contact Paula Setser-Kissick .

Responsibilities of Internet Safety/Digital Citizenship Coordinators:
  • Make students’ digital safety a priority for both you and your staff.
  • Attend district training each year — either beginning or refresher.
  • Share all district information with your principal.
  • Mark the deadline for completing all instruction on your calendar (always in December).
  • Compile age-appropriate lessons, etc. for delivering the content. (Note: FCPS purchases iSafe where you can access its curriculum. However, you may use any combination of resources as long as the topics are covered with students.)
  • Submit FCPS School Internet Safety Instructional Plan with the district by the due date.
  • Complete your iSafe training. if you are a new coordinator, and submit your certificate to the district person in charge of Internet Safety.
  • Check periodically with staff members in your building who are also responsible for teaching lessons and make sure the instruction is being delivered.
  • Understand that ALL responsibility on the school level for following federal law and board policy ultimately falls on you and the principal.

The ETPL is a comprehensive listing of all schools and organizations offering occupational education and job training programs that are eligible to receive publically funded tuition assistance.

Deciding whether or not to pursue additional education or training often relies on one’s ability to receive funding or tuition assistance. New Jersey offers many options for training programs and funding through grants for those who qualify.

Eligibility may depend on a number of factors and is determined by speaking directly with a member of our One-Stop Career Center Staff.

To search for training, click on the “Get Started Search for Training” button above. You can customize your search by occupation and geographic location. Your search results will provide you with information on the various programs offered by each training provider and allow you to compare programs and providers based on information such as the location and length of training, the costs and any special services that may be offered. The CRC portion of the site gives you the ability to compare training providers by employment outcomes and the starting salary after completion of a program. You can also view program comments and reviews submitted by former students.
